Job Summary

Kforce's client, a leading regional construction management firm in Lynbrook, NY, is seeking a Project Accountant. This role involves guiding employees in accounting, billing, payables, payroll, general ledger, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Project Accountant will ensure timely and accurate financial reports, direct financial planning, analyze financial data, develop internal control policies, and act as a primary liaison for financial audits. This is an onsite, permanent position requiring a degree in Accounting and 5+ years of construction accounting management experience.

Must Have

  • Guide employees performing accounting, billing, payables, payroll, general ledger, budgeting, and financial reporting duties.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial reports, statements, and tax returns/filings.
  • Direct financial planning and budgeting for assigned entities.
  • Analyze financial data and build financial models for expected operations to identify development opportunities.
  • Develop and enforce internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Direct the implementation of new financial systems and procedures.
  • Act as primary liaison for financial audits with external CPA firm, and correspondence with state agencies and other external parties.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state contract cost accounting principles and work with various departments to assist providing information.
  • Review all financial statements and ledgers and work with the accounting staff to clear up discrepancies.
  • Degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of related construction accounting management experience.
  • Experience in managing day-to-day functions and leading accounting personnel.
  • Advanced level Excel skills required including pivot tables, v-lookups.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to details and proactive approach.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to -think outside the box- while identifying problems and developing creative solutions.

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation, analysis and presentation of financial reports, statements, and tax returns/filings on a weekly/monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Direct financial planning and budgeting for assigned entities
  • Analyze financial data and build financial models for expected operations to identify development opportunities
  • Develop and enforce internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
